When did the Monaco Grand Prix join Formula 1?

Flash back to 1950, and when the Monaco Grand Prix first become part of the Formula 1 World Championship, and it’s been a cornerstone of the calendar ever since.
With its unique street circuit and dramatic coastal setting, it’s quickly earned its reputation as the jewel in F1’s crown.

Recent winners

Lando Norris crossed the finish line to claim victory for McLaren in 2025, but Max Verstappen had P1 until the penultimate lap when he had to take a second pit stop, allowing Norris to charge in front and stay in the lead to cross the chequered flag.

In 2024, Charles Leclerc finally clutched his long-awaited home victory for Ferrari, becoming the first, and only, Monegasque driver to win his home Grand Prix. It was a triumphant and emotional win - not just for Leclerc, but for the entire country. The atmosphere in Monte Carlo was electric; reminding fans exactly why this race is so special.
