The Championships Wimbledon 2025 Highlights

three minutes

Not since 2019 has there been a Championships with no rain delays - an incredible milestone for this British event! The Championships, Wimbledon 2025 came during a sweltering heatwave and brought some serious tennis to match the temperatures.

This year’s tournament will be remembered as the year of transformation. Fresh champions rose, familiar faces were toppled, and tennis once again proved why SW19 is the most iconic postcode in sport. From record-breaking performances to moments of British glory, this year’s Championships had it all - and then some.
Here’s your full recap of everything that mattered on and off the courts.

A New Era For Men’s Tennis? Sinner Shocks Alcaraz In The Final

In one of the most anticipated showdowns of the year, Jannik Sinner dethroned reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz in a high-octane four-set final: 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. It was a performance marked by precision, composure, and a near-flawless return game.

At just 23 years old, Sinner has become the first Italian man to lift the Wimbledon trophy, adding a fourth Grand Slam title to his resumé. After a brutal close defeat at Roland Garros, this grass-court triumph signals his readiness to dominate across all surfaces.

“I had to play my best tennis - Carlos is an incredible player and a great champion. This is a dream come true,” said Sinner post-match.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz - who was bidding for a third successive Wimbledon title - showed flashes of brilliance but struggled with unforced errors and was outplayed in the longer rallies. The rivalry between these two is only just heating up. The tennis world is ready.

Świątek Makes History With Ruthless Final Win

If Sinner’s win felt like a changing of the guard, Iga Świątek’s performance was a cold-blooded declaration of supremacy. She dismantled Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 in just 57 minutes, making it the first double bagel in a Wimbledon women’s final since 1911.
Świątek now owns six Grand Slam titles, but this was her first at Wimbledon - the only major missing from her collection until now. Despite questions about her grass-court comfort, she answered with brutal efficiency and laser-focused baseline play.

British Doubles Glory: Cash And Glasspool Break The Drought

It wasn’t just about international stars - Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool gave the home crowd plenty to cheer for by becoming the first all-British men’s doubles team to win Wimbledon since 1936.
Their straight-sets victory over Rinky Hijikata and Bart Stevens was the culmination of a tournament filled with clutch play and crowd-pleasing drama. One match even saw them save three match points on the road to the final. True grit.

Notable Moments & Talking Points

Rising Stars:

● Teen phenom Mirra Andreeva reached the women’s semi-finals, proving she’s a name to watch.
● On the men’s side, British wildcard Jacob Fearnley reached the fourth round, thrilling home fans with gritty five-set wins.

Tech Takes Over:

In a major shift, 2025 saw Wimbledon eliminate human line judges, replacing them with fully automated line-calling technology.

Fun Fact:

A rogue champagne cork from the crowd briefly paused play during the men’s final. Jannik Sinner had to retreat his service and pass the cork to the ball girl, before calmly returning to break serve. So Wimbledon!

The Experience Experts Served Another Year of Excellence: Hospitality Iconic As Ever

While the tennis took centre stage, the hospitality experience at The Championships, Wimbledon once again elevated the entire occasion to new heights. From sipping Pimm’s in the sun-drenched garden at The Lawn, indulging in the beautiful canapés beneath the leafy Treehouse, reliving the iconic Le Gavroche restaurant with the Roux's, stylish dining in Skyview Suites or enjoying sweeping views of Centre Court from Rosewater Pavilion, Keith Prowse guests were immersed in the ultimate Grand Slam luxury.

2025 was an exciting and special one for us as some of our hospitality spaces underwent transformations that delivered the WOW factor. The Treehouse was reimagined and expanded especially for its fourth year, allowing space to relax, socialise and sock up the atmosphere. From a touch up in the ‘Glam Slam’ pamper space to the iconic Treehouse swing - it was more immersive than ever! ‘The Sweet Spot’ was our brand-new whimsical olde-style sweet shop - it was more of a hit with the adults than our younger visitors! Guests could pop back in between sets for a sugar fix to keep their energy levels high for an afternoon of action. And for those with a playful side, the latest feature was kept a surprise until the day: a slide from the Treehouse balcony into The Lawn garden! It sparked a lot of fun and a lot of laughs!

Downstairs in The Lawn, the chic new seafood counter and beautifully redesigned inside-out bar brought a new level of vibrancy into the area. Visible from when guests walk in, it was a striking start to the day. Positioned in the heart of the bar was our resident DJ who curated the perfect ‘set’ and brought the vibes! Of course, Michelin star culinary legends Michel Roux and daughter Emily Roux were welcoming guests and ensuring the food was going down a hit, taking the odd selfie with our culinary-mad guests!

Le Gavroche at The Lawn was back for a second year of gastronomic excellence. Michel Roux and his talented team brought the iconic London restaurant to The Championships in collaboration with Keith Prowse in 2024, to carry on the legacy and allow their loyal guests to enjoy the experience, not only in their restaurant, but at the tennis! The iconic Sisters, Michel, Emily and the team know how to do fine-dining - and guests with us this year were shown just that.

Rosewater Pavilion also gained beautiful new updates, from the refreshed interiors to the elegant entrance via the front garden - where none other than former British No.1 Greg Rusedski greeted guests. The garden space stole the show with its expansive new decking and plush seating – a place where guests debriefed on the Centre Court drama over a glass of Champagne.

Not to mention Skyview Suites - while they enjoyed a refresh only a couple of years ago, guests were treated to visits by tennis greats such as Pat Cash, dined on mouth-watering food from Alex Kimber and his team from the Heron Restaurant in the Isle Of Wight, and elevated views above the crowds overlooking the city beyond - situated right in the heart of Centre Court itself.

This year’s experiences didn’t just complement the tennis – they became an unmissable part of guest’s Wimbledon experience and something they all fell in love with. With 2026 already on the horizon, it's safe to say Wimbledon is much more than just a day at the tennis - it’s a British summer institution.
